Welcome to the fourth biannual Stockholm korfball tournament in 2008!

Background:

This is the fourth Stockholm invitational and it will be best korfball tournament ever in Sweden. The previous tournaments have been good, but we have made some improvements. We have selected a venue where the playing field, the hostel and the party venue are close to each other. This year we will be playing in one of the most scenic parts of Stockholm. It is actually a national park and several beaches are just a few hundred meters away. If you have no interest in such things, the largest IKEA store in the world is also close by. We put a lot of emphasis on the social aspects of the tournament, and all players are welcome to a nice dinner on Saturday evening, free of charge. If you want to visit central Stockholm, it is 19 minutes away by underground. If you have any questions, please contact David at the SKK board by clicking the Contact Us link.

Date:

June 7-8, 2008

Place:

Bredäng, Stockholm. The playing field is about 15 minutes walk from the Bredäng underground station. It takes 19 minutes to travel from T-Centralen (in central Stockholm) to Bredäng. On Saturday morning the underground trains leave T-Centralen towards Bredäng at 8.23, 8.38, 8.53, 9.08, 9.18 and 9.28.

Getting there:

There are plenty of flights to Stockholm. Ryanair is usually cheaper, but then you will arrive in Skavsta airport. From Skavsta airport you can take an airport bus to Skärholmen. They leave at 7.50, 12.30, 15.00, 17.30, 20.00, 22.30 and 0.10 from Skavsta. The travel time to Skärholmen is 78 minutes. Skärholmen is only two underground stops from Bredäng where you will find the hostel and the playing field. If it takes too long to wait for the bus to Skärholmen then take an airport bus to Stockholm City terminal (80 minutes) and take the red line on the underground towards Norsborg and get off at Bredäng (11 stops).
If you arrive at Arlanda airport you can take a train or an airport bus to Stockholm and then take the red line on the underground towards Norsborg and get off at Bredäng.
For local journeys with the underground and buses you can buy a travel card. A 24 hour card costs 100 crowns and a 72 hour card costs 200 crowns. For more information about public transportation see www.sl.se

Recommended accommodation:

Bredäng Hostel & Camping: a cheap hostel, 2 minutes from the playing field. www.bredangvandrarhem.se
Klubbensborg: the nicest hostel in Stockholm, but fairly cheap. 5 minutes away by underground. www.klubbensborg.nu

Eating:

There are a few pizza places and a supermarket in Bredäng, but nothing fancy. In addition, we will be selling beverages, hot dogs, salads and snacks at the korfball field.

Social events:

On Friday we will meet up at 7 p.m. in the Hirschenkeller restaurant. On Saturday everyone is invited to a nice dinner party at 8 p.m. in Jakobsbergs gård 5 minutes walk from the Bredäng underground station.

Good to know:

Friday June 6th is the national day for Sweden with a lot of celebrations in Stockholm.

There is a big restaurant festival in Stockholm 4-8 June with entertainment.

In Stockholm you should also see the Vasa museum. It is a complete warship from 1628.

It's 14:12 CET in Stockholm
